Writing Your Way Through College

College is a tough time for everyone but even more so for budding writers. If you went off to school and had to think about things like california internet and dorm assignments rather than your newest short story, take our advice for getting back in the mindset

Get With the Paper: Most schools have a newspaper that loves student journalists. They won’t pay much if at all but you’ll get invaluable experience writing and following the tenets of professional journalism and you’ll have some great stuff to put in your portfolio.

Write a Blog: The new millennium ushered forth the newest form of content: the personal blog. Start one for yourself on any topic you feel passionate about – food, fashion, school, etc. – and try to write every single day. It will keep you on track and your readers will make you accountable.

Take Some Classes: If you really, truly love to write sign up for as many writing classes as you can fit in .Creative writing, journalism and even advertising offer some practice in the world of professional writing and you may even find a new exciting outlet.
